Wow, i couldn't of predicted the start i've had to this season! Taking both the mountain and GC jerseys in the teams first tour was a dream for me, when the DS came to find me in the second week of January, asking if i would be happy to take on the responsibility of leader, i thank him and jumped at the opportunity.
I'd like to think i did myself proud over the week that followed, 2 stage victories, which would of been 3 if it wasn't for Leiny... he seemed to feel that i didn't deserve all the glory, so the little bugger went and nicked one for himself... ;) Still, 2 stages and a 2nd isn't bad for us methinks. I was in great shape leading up to the race, and knew i had it in me to take some stages, so when opportunity arose, i took them, and here we are, me with some new jerseys to put on the wall, along with some fond memories to go with them.
So far the Etoile De Besseges hasn't given me much to do, my biggest role this far was playing man 5 in the lead-out train for our sprinters, not exactly what I'd hoped for if I'm honest, but maybe i'll receive an opportunity later on in the tour, rather than just sitting around all day every day in the peloton. Watching Pye over the last two stages has been impressive, the speeds the strong men get up to at the end of a days racing is incredible, and whilst we're winning, I guess I can't get overly upset about not being the name on every ones lips. :P
Anyways i best be off now, but before i go, word in the team is that the rider Alexander Lens will be the next person to update, so get your questions in for him, he'll gladly answer your requests, so just let him know what you want to find out. Personally, I'm off down the pub before tomorrow arrives...
